ChildFund in Laos, Child Life skills Empowerment Project, in collaboration with the NCAWMC, organised a training of trainers on financial literacy or Cha-Ching Curriculum

ChildFund in Laos, Child Life Skills Empowerment Project, in collaboration with the National Commission for Advancement of Women, Mothers and Children (NCAWMC), organised a training of trainers on financial literacy or Cha-Ching Curriculum, which is a guideline that teaches the skills to use money wisely for children aged 7 to 12 from second to the fifth grade of 20 primary schools. The training was organised for master trainers at the provincial and district levels, as well as primary school teachers in grades 2-5 from Xieng Kho and Sopbao Districts in Houaphanh Province. There were 100 participants, including 52 women attended in the training.

The project is funded 450.000 USD by The Prudence Foundation for the 3-year project implementation period, starting from 2022 to the end of 2024.

At the training session, the master trainers learned the methods and techniques for teaching how to manage money effectively and wisely spending throughout this course by focus on four key concepts of earn, save, spend, and donate.

Another main purpose of this training is for the master trainers and primary teachers to understand the manual, and be able to convey the lessons of saving skills to the students in their school. The training took 4 days from December 10-12, 2022. on the last day of the training, all participants had teaching pilot with 217 students (106 girls) at Sopbao Primary School, Sopbao District, Houaphanh Province.
