delivery of four libraries to the project’s target schools
Another achievement made by ChildFund in Laos in collaboration with government partners, namely the District Education and Sports Bureau (DESB) and Provincial Education and Sports Services (PESS) of Houaphanh Province, is the delivery of four libraries to the project’s target schools, which include: Khong Secondary School, Pa Vanh Secondary School in Xamneua District, and Huay Toung Secondary School, Pa Hang Secondary School in Sopbao District, Houaphanh Province.
The school library’s aim is to foster student interest in reading while also providing a safe and welcoming environment for students. In addition, the library will be used to implement literacy activities to help students improve their Lao reading, listening, and writing skills.
The construction of a library is one of the key activities being carried out as part of the Gender and Language Education for Ethnic Students’ Empowerment (GLEESE) project taking place in Xamneua and Sopbao Districts, Houaphanh Province. The project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and ChildFund Korea.
