ChildFund in Laos hosted The Basic Education for a Better Tomorrow Webinar to recognize the World Students’ Day 2021

On October 15, 2021, ChildFund in Laos hosted The Basic Education for a Better Tomorrow Webinar to recognize the World Students’ Day 2021!

Many stakeholders participated in the event like the Ministry of Education and Sports, Provincial Education and Sports Services (PESS), District Education and Sports Bureau (DESB) of Huapanh and Xiengkhoung Provinces, and UNICEF Laos.

Mr. Biju Abraham, Country Director of ChildFund in Laos said, “World Students’ Day is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of former Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on October 15. It is celebrated to pay tribute to the selfless contribution of Mr. Kalam towards the development of education not only for Indian society but for students across the globe. On this occasion, ChildFund in Laos wanted to have a collaborative partnership discourse to bring our project research findings from Scaling Basic Education in Laos project, and hear voices of students, teachers, development partners, and government line ministries especially from the Ministry of Education and Sports.”

The purpose of the webinar is to feature primary students, youth volunteers, and teacher voices, disseminate CFL’s Scale-up Access to Basic Education in Lao PDR (SABEL) project learnings including government recommendations and share research findings on student literacy development, teacher teaching practices, and parent-student support.
