ChildFund in Lao PDR consulted on a project to improve reading ability and access to environmentally friendly facilities for secondary students in Houaphanh province.
On 19 February 2021, ChildFund in Lao PDR, in collaboration with the representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Provincial Department of Education and Sports, consulted on the Gender and Language Education for Ethnic Students’ Empowerment (GLEESE) project in Sopbao and Xamnaeu districts in Houaphanh province.
The purpose of the meeting is to share the concept of the project that aims to encourage students in the targeted areas for accessing environmentally friendly facilities without gender discrimination. Moreover, the project intervention will also increase the capacity of students to reading ability and quality through gender mainstreaming and awareness raising. Over 2000 secondary students in 30 target villages will benefit from the project including their families and communities.
