ChildFund in Laos Supports the 5th Lao Children’s Forum 2023 in Luang Prabang Province.

Luang Prabang Province – ChildFund in Laos, represented by the Ready for Life Project funded by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), supported and corroborated the National Commission for the Advancement of Women, Mothers and Children (NCAWMC) and the Provincial Commission for the Advancement of Women, Mothers and Children (PCWAMC) in hosting the successful 5th Lao Children’s Forum 2023. The event was held from 25 – 28 April 2023, under the theme “Developing Life Skills and Building Digital Resiliency for Lao Children.”

As a long-standing advocate for children’s rights in Laos, ChildFund in Laos provided children with an opportunity to develop ideas and analyze issues that affect their lives, encouraged the participation and sharing of experiences, fostered friendship amongst representatives’ children from 17 provinces and Vientiane Capital, and raised awareness of children’s rights and community responsibility.

The Ready for Life Project, supported by The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), was a representative from ChildFund in Laos that supported the forum. The project was committed to improving the quality of life and opportunities for children and youth in Laos by building their resilience through their capacities to plan, voice their ideas, make decisions, and take actions that impact their socio-economic well-being.

The event featured two sub-themes, “Adapting and developing the life skills of Lao children and youths to ASEAN” and “Building Digital Resiliency.” The Lao Children’s Forum is a national-level platform for children to promote unity, exchange local culture and society, build capacity, and prepare for various aspects to represent the country on behalf of Lao children at important forums at ASEAN level.

ChildFund in Laos is committed to empowering children and youth in Laos with a focus on upholding child rights and improving access to quality education. In addition, they also prioritize projects which focus on child nutrition, sexual reproductive health and rights, media literacy, and job readiness. The organization’s support for the 5th Lao Children’s Forum was a testament to their commitment to advancing children’s rights and building a brighter future for Lao children.
