The Lao Children’s Forum 2023 was truly a celebration of the power of children and the importance of empowering the next generation to become leaders and change-makers in the future. A special focus of this forum is on teaching children life skills, such as recognizing and appreciating the value of themselves and others, in addition to adapting and using digital technology in a creative and safe manner to search for information resources at home and in school, so that they can acquire knowledge. Aside from this, children were educated in the process of analysing and resolving the challenges they encounter in their daily lives.

“Digital technology provides diverse opportunities for students to study, research, and access information sources. Nonetheless, it is imperative that all relevant parties monitor and correct the access of official information that does not pose any harm to children. Additionally, proper guidance and education should be given to children to ensure their safe use of digital technology,” said by a child representative.

Few years ago, this forum has brought excitement and opportunity to children through the selection of child representatives who were given the chance to present their visions on education and ending violence against children at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the United States and Switzerland. During the event, the child representatives also expressed their views on the importance of freedom of expression and equal access to education for all children.
