ChildFund in Laos in collaboration with key government partners conducted gender training for trainers and village volunteers
We are very happy to see Lao communities taking a step closer to achieving gender equality. In the world, the majority of the world’s poor are women – this is because of the limitations and inequalities placed on women by societal structures. In Lao PDR, almost 4 million of the population are women and girls.
This is half of the population that will be at a disadvantage if we do not address gender gaps in education, work opportunities, communities, and even in homes. It starts with us to empower our mothers, sisters, wives, daughters – to lift up this 50%, and abolish harmful gender stereotypes, for a more progressive and brighter future.
ChildFund in Laos in collaboration with key government partners conducted gender training for trainers and village volunteers as part of ChildFund in Laos’ Gender and Language Education for Ethnic Students’ Empowerment (GLEESE) Project.
GLEESE is funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and ChildFund Korea as a Civil Society Cooperation Program to empower all students in 15 target villages in Sopbao District and 15 target villages in Xamneua District with equal and equitable access to quality education.
