Handing over critical medical equipment to stop the spread of COVID-19

COVID-19 has reached the Lao PDR, with the first cases found on March 24, and the number of infections increasing ever since. To respond and stop the spread of this virus, social organizations and international organizations collaborating on the European Union funded SCALING project, including ChildFund Laos, have provided medical equipment to health centers in the project’s target provinces.

On April 5, 2020, ChildFund provided medical equipment to 11 health centers in Xamnuea District, Huaphanh Province: Huayma Health Center, Xangkham Health Center, Nongkhang Health Center, Huamjai Health Center, Saloey Health Center, Hunghon Health Center, Tueam Health Center, Mueang Van Health Center, Ngao Health Center, Phieng Health Center and Nasamong Health Center. The medical equipment provided by ChildFund Laos included surgical masks, soap, 75% alcohol for handwashing, alcohol gel for handwashing, digital forehead thermometers and gloves.

In this situation, we know that all health units are working hard to keep people safe, and we hope that the medical equipment that we provided will be able to help the health team keep themselves safe as well. We will continue to work alongside the healthcare workers of Laos in these difficult times.
